In Oregon, recent efforts by a group of state agencies and community partners led to the adoption of a Positive Youth Development (PYD) benchmark by the Oregon Progress Board in 2006. In this paper, we describe the process of creating the state benchmark and present research evidence showing strong relationships that link high levels of PYD to reduced levels of risk behaviors and increased levels of positive, healthy behaviors among Oregon youth.

In 2010, the University of Arizona CYFERnet Evaluation Team conducted Round Four of data collection from Cooperative Extension personnel across the nation and prepared an aggregate-level report. The 71-item Organizational Change Survey covers topics ranging from implementation of common vision, training opportunities, collaboration within and outside of Extension, diversity of Extension programs and staff, respondent characteristics, and the economy’s impact on the Extension system’s capacity and CYFAR programming.
